Fare Game http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/learning/fare-game-mobile.cfm
Use of this device in a course could reflect a future trend in the type of exercises educators and/or trainers develop. This computer game administered by Wharton School of Business at The University of PA. faculty members and played by students features a mock airfare battle where students can set competitive prices. Wharton developed a version of "Fare Game" for the wireless hand held device above eliminating restrictions associated with playing in the computer lab.

Criteria for Evaluating the Quality of Online Courses
I found this site has valuable information on the criteria for evaluating online courses. As said, criteria presented in this guide are based on the national and international experiences of staff in the Instructional Media and Design department at Grant MacEwan College.

MySpace, Facebook, and Other Social Networking Sites: Hot Today, Gone Tomorrow? http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article.cfm?articleid=1463
This article discusses the future of some of those social networking sites out there today. These sites are becoming much more popular, with the average user age lowering every year. Educators need to know this information because our students are using these sites. We should be versed on the lingo. This site offers some information on what's in store next for these expanding networks.

Tonight in RFP, Dr. Kapp showed us this new device(actually I don't even think it's out on the market yet)called
"GlucoBoy". It's a gameboy that monitors kids blood sugar levels. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
I expected the future of gaming to make education fun for kids,
but I never imagined that it would become this advanced.
Common examples of wireless equipment in use today include:
Cellular phones and pagers: provide connectivity for portable and mobile applications, both personal and business.
Global Positioning System (GPS): allows drivers of cars and trucks, captains of boats and ships, and pilots of aircraft to ascertain their location anywhere on earth.
Cordless computer peripherals: the cordless mouse is a common example; keyboards and printers can also be linked to a computer via wireless.
Cordless telephone sets: these are limited-range devices, not to be confused with cell phones.
Satellite television: allows viewers in almost any location to select from hundreds of channels.
Wireless networking is used to meet a variety of needs. Perhaps the most common use is to connect laptop users who travel from location to location. Another common use is for mobile networks that connect via satellite. A wireless transmission method is a logical choice to network a LAN segment that must frequently change locations.

I found a site that talks about 10 concepts that are being looked at as future trends for the web. Some of the them we all know about, while some of them may be new ideas for some of us. I would definitely check this link out and see what you think.
I found a site that I think is similar to I believe its called Second Life. I haven't had the oportunity to use Second Life but I thought that this website was very interesting. It is called Active Worlds. And it allows you to do many things in a 3D virtual world. You are able to visit and chat in 3D worlds made by yourself or other people. You are able to build your own world, shop in the mall, talk to the store clerks and more. www.activeworlds.com

Future trends in eLearning
The following site discusses the changing of technology and some factors that are associated with this change, and also lists some "predictions" of changes in eLearning to look for in the near future (although many are already taking place). I also started a little discussion page if anyone has any neat thoughts on the growth of technology in eLearning.

Link to check out the latest in technology for schools. Virtual Learning and Collaboration toold are two most commonly used technological advancements in schools these days. Handheld devices like a PDA is something that not everyone has and something that not everyone can afford. I have a feeling that Videoconferencing and Wireless Networking will soon be the norm for schools. The only important one that this article has missed is VOIP, the day is not far where people will be able to talk on their cell phone via VOIP making telecommunication far more cheaper than what it is today.

The link above talks about how "SWANset" which stands for Super Wide Area Network will span the entire globe. This will not just erase geographical boundaries but technological boundries too.

Now this is an awesome link this talks about top 10 smart technologies, this is super cool stuff. If students are exposed to these technologies right from beginning, then these students will build a road to the moon.

As everyone knows we here in America are always behind the curve on the tech side of things. Japan on the other hand has been using RFID tags for awhile now for everyday use. The tags can be built into almost anything. I love all the uses for them. Shopping, locating friends, Ads.....
